portable acer travelmate 4000 smart battery

I'd like to install vista on my travelmate 4000 but I can't get the battery working.
I get errors about the "smart battery" which isn't supported by vista.
Some has a solution?
Maybe microsoft could make a driver?

Microsoft does not write the hardware drivers. The vendor is responsible for distributing any drivers needed. If you have a driver problem, contact Acer Support.
